Etihad airlines was established as the national air carrier of the United Arab Emirates in July 2003 by a Royal decree issued by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, then the Crown Prince Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Services. The airline started its commercial operations in November 2003 with the launch of services to Beirut.

With its main hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Etihad airlines fly to several destinations in Middle East, Europe, Asia, and North America.
