Giridh district is situated in the heart of Jharkhand. Surrounded by a number of hills and soaring hillocks, Giridh was formed in 1972 when it was carved out from Hazaribagh district. It is spread over an area of 4853.56sq km. Giridh is rich in mineral wealth, especially in Mica and coal. Tisri and Gawan blocks of the district are dotted with many coal and mica field.
Giridh is home to the world famous Jain pilgrimage shrine, where 20 out of 24 Jain Tirthankaras attained Nirvana. The famous Parasnath hill and the Langta Baba Mazar, which is the symbol of communal harmony is also situated here. Usri fall, Khadoli, Madhuban, Parasnath, Jharkhand dam and Harihar dam are few major attractions in Giridh district.
Giridh has very limited accommodation options. There are some good budget hotels in the district, which provide clean and spacious rooms. Most of the hotels in Giridh are located near to the railway station and bus terminal. Equipped with all essential amenities, Giridh hotels offer accommodation at extremely affordable prices. Besides hotels, the city has several lodges and guesthouses that offer basic rooms to visitors. Some hotels in Giridh also serve good vegetarian and non-vegetarian fares at reasonable rates. |
