Shri Shantadurga Temple is situated at a distance of 14kms from Mapusa at Dhargal, Pemem. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Shantadurga who mediated between Shree Vishnu and Shree Shiva and thus ended up the terrified war between the two lords. The impressive idol of goddess in the temple is encircled by Vishnu and Shiva on both sides. The Goddess of the Shri Shantadurga temple was carried at Sanquelim, during the Portuguese destruction of the temples in Barde. Set in lush green surroundings, thetemple in goacelebrates the grand Zatra of the goddess in the month of December.
