Shri Gopal Ganpathi Temple

The beautiful temple of Gopal Ganapati is set amid the lush green surroundings at Farmgudi, Ponda. It is dedicated to Lord Ganesh whose stone idol was discovered by herdsmen while grazing cattle near the hill. The idol was later installed in a small shrine with a thatched roof. The first building of the temple commemorates the celebration of the Portuguese retreat following the sudden appearance of the Marathas under King Sambhaji. The present Temple of Shri Gopal Ganpathi was built by late Shri Dayanand Bandodkar, the first Chief Minister of Goa. The new idol of "Gopal Ganpathi" made of metal alloy was consecrated on April 24, 1966.
