The captivating Dona Paula beach is named after Dauna Paula de Menzes, daughter of a viceroy in colonial India who committed suicide by throwing herself off the cliff, when refused permission to marry a local fisherman, Gaspar Dias. It is also said that Dauna Paula is buried in the Cabo Chapel of the Raj Bhawan and is believed to be seen emerging from the moon light rays wearing only a pearl necklace. Dona Paula Beach is also referred to as "Lovers Paradise". Apart form being famous for its enchanting haunting past, Dona Paula Beach is also renowned for its water sports. Tourists can indulge in several water sports activities including water scooter cycle, windsurfing, water skiing, toboggan ski biscuit, ski bob, sports fishing, kayaking, para sailing, and yachting. Blessed with natural beauty, Dona Paula Beach has also been the ideal location for several Bollywood movies including the famous film "Ek Duje ke Liye".

Shopping at Dona Paula Beach : Numerous shop lined along the beachside sell variety of stuffs and goods, ranging from trendy clothes, chunky jwellery to traditional handicrafts and eatables. The local fishermen turned vendors also sell lovely straw hats, fragrant spices, cashew nuts, laced handkerchief and delicious banana dessert Bebinca. The famous Goanese alcoholic drinks, Feni, Toddy and Port wine are must buys that are available at all shops at quite reasonable prices. The exquisite handicrafts, silver jwellery, showpieces and fabrics can be bought from the Indian Arts Emporium at Dona Paula.
Restaurants at Dona Paula Beach : There are several good seafood restaurants that dot the stretch between Miramar and Dona Paula Beach. Martin's Beach Corner, Sea Pebble, Menino's and Sea view are some of the famous restaurants at Dona Paula, which serve scrumptious array of Indian, and western dishes along with chilled bear and other exotic cocktails.
